Moto G4 Plus Finally Gets Android 8.1 Oreo Update, Moto Z3 Play Android Pie Update Appears Imminent

Yes, you read that right. It’s an update to Android Oreo and not even Android Pie like most smartphones today. The company had promised an upgrade for the smartphone back in 2017 but after never really head to pushing the update out. If you still possess a Moto G4 Plus smartphone, do not be surprised to find an upgrade notification popping up after a long time.

Lenovo-owned Motorola initially didn’t include that the Moto G4 and the Moto G4 Plus in its update schedule back in September 2017. A few days after the company explained that there was a miscommunication and also the Oreo upgrade will roll out to the G4 Plus. Motorola also said that since this was an unplanned upgrade, it may take some time to fit it into the update schedule. The business took near 17 weeks to provide this upgrade .

The Moto Z3 Perform is just another smartphone that’s very likely to acquire a software upgrade shortly. The company back in August 2018 intended to upgrade eight smartphones to Android Pie along with the Moto Z3 Play was among them. Motorola has recently printed Pie release notes for the Z3. There’s not any news of this Moto Z3 Play getting the Pie update yet which means it is in the pipeline and might be just pop up any time soon.

A closer look at the release notes does not disclose anything specific but the usual Android Pie attributes. These include a new UI, one-button navigation gestures, updated volume controls, temporary rotation key and screenshot editing. Motorola did not launch the Moto Z3 Perform in India.
